What if you learned the sun was going super nova, and all of us on Earth had just 24 hours to live? What would you do? Not an easy question to answer, is it?
Well, instead of worrying about the answers, j. bell and his songwriting partners in crime, $2 Bill and BPZMAG wrote an album’s worth of songs around this question. And then they hit the recording studio, bringing in bassist Mike D. and drummer Kent Mortimer to complete several tunes. And the result is: “Greetings from Apocalyptic Falls”, a record unlike anything you’ve ever heard from the Lazy Susan Band.
Filled with synths, electric drums, and contemplative lyrics, our first “concept album” is finally ready to be released. And we want YOU to join us at Can Can Wonderland on May 19th to help us celebrate it. This will be our first time playing this amazing venue, and the only time you’ll be able to hear the entire album played live from beginning to end. Here’s the schedule for the night:
- 8:30 pm: Cocktails, mini-golf, and $5 CDs
- 9:30 pm: Greetings from Apocalyptic Falls set
- 10:30 pm: “Retrospective” Lazy Susan Band set
- 11:20-12:30 pm: Closeout Jam with Nick Hensley
We’ll have more details to reveal soon, but for now, mark your calendars and plan to join us! And we’ll hope that the sun keeps calm until then…
(Update: while we hope you’ll join us on 5/19, if you can’t make it here are a host of other gigs booked this spring and summer. Details are on our Events page.)
